Life Story for Barbara Tombs
Barbara Tombs, 69 of Thompson, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30th with Charlie right by her side telling her what to do. A gathering of family will take place in Pennsylvania and as per Barbara's wishes a private graveside service will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield for her immediate family.
Barbara was born on November 24, 1944 to Peter and Stella (Kravetsky) Dobon at their family farm in Pennsylvania. As a young girl her family moved to Rahway, NJ. and on December 2, 1962 her life changed forever when she accepted to go out on a date with Charlie. In a few short years they married on January 30, 1965 and the rest was history!
They spent the next 40 years living in Garwood, NJ before retiring to Thompson, Pennsylvania to enjoy country living. After a few winters they realized they weren't cut out for country winters and decided it was time to become snow birds and fly the coop for Titusville Florida each December.
For many years she was a professional homemaker in Garwood and when most were retiring she began a career as the CEO and Chief Air Traffic Controller of Boden Airport in Thompson, Pa. Throughout the many years of her professional duties she also had a 24 hour job of keeping Charlie happy!
She is predeceased by her parents, Peter and Stella along with her siblings, retired Lt. Col. Peter Dobon USMC and Janet Wilusz.
Barbara will be so deeply missed by her loving husband and partner in fun and jokes of 49 years, Charlie and their son, Chuck and his wife Colleen along with her two amazing grandsons; Ryan and Scott who absolutely adored her.
In lieu of flowers, rather than making any financial donations to an organization, it is our wish that each of you make an everlasting memory doing something fun with your family and friends.
