William G. Lemke
Kenilworth
Mr. William G. Lemke passed away Tuesday January 16, 2018 at his home in Kenilworth. He was 90 years old.
Born to Edwin and Hannah Lemke, William lived in Union City before settling in Westfield, New Jersey where he lived for more than 60 years. He had been a Kenilworth resident for the past 14 years. Mr. Lemke served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Kean College and had a 26-year career teaching shop as well as other subjects in the Jersey City School System. Mr. Lemke loved crafts, sports, genealogy, and travel, especially to exotic places.
Mr. Lemke was predeceased by his parents Hannah Wormcke Lemke and Edwin L. Lemke, brother Edwin A. Lemke, and first wife Lillian Ward Lemke.
He is survived by his wife Julia Lemke, a daughter by his first marriage, seven step-children, a niece Amy Leone, a nephew Kurt Lemke, two grand-nieces, 2 grand-nephews, and nine step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-5 pm Sunday at the Dooley Colonial Home 556 Westfield Ave. Westfield, NJ 07090. A funeral mass will be held in St. Theresa R.C. Church in Kenilworth at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Mr. Lemke’s name to the Westfield Historical Society.
