Modestino Cristiano, 67, passed away, Thursday, June 27th, 2019, at Rahway Hospital. Born in Summonte, Avellino, Italy, he lived in Westfield from 1972 to 1980, when he moved to Rahway.
Modestino was the owner of M. Cristiano Landscaping and was a longtime member of the Italian American Club in Westfield.
He will be remembered for the unconditional love for his family, dedication to his business and customers; spending time fishing, hunting and sleeping anywhere.
Surviving are his sons, Anthony and Joseph; his grandchildren, Anthony Joseph, Isabella, Oliver and Sebastian; his former spouse, Kathleen Mahachek; his sister, Concetta Capone and her husband, Timothy; his brothers, Aniello, Carmine and his wife, Hilf and Silvestro; nieces and nephews, Erika and William GaNun and their daughter, Charlotte Jude, Angela Capone, Christopher and Luz Cristiano and their sons Liam and Cameron, Vincent and Victoria Cristiano, Tina-Marie and Joseph Cuzzo and Gabrielle Cristiano and Jeremy McCabe and their son, Nathan; and many extended relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Monday, July 1st from 5 PM to 9 PM. The funeral will begin on Tuesday at 8:30 at the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Westfield at 9 AM. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
