Antonino “Tony” Pafumi, 85, passed away Saturday (November 16, 2019) at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in Motta Camastra, Sicily, he and his late wife, Giovannina, came to the United States in 1956 and settled in Westfield.
Tony was the owner of Anthony Pafumi Contractors in Westfield. He started the business in 1960 and retired in 2004.
He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity RC Church in Westfield for the past 63 years and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was also a longtime member of the Italian American Club in Westfield.
In his spare time, Tony loved to garden at his home and was known for growing beautiful fruits and vegetables. More than anything, Tony loved spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughters, Nancy Somma (Tony), Maria Fuentes, Gloria Pafumi-Libitz (Lenny); his sons, Salvatore (Paula), Anthony and John; grandchildren, Jennifer Feldman (Brian), Erica Valentini (Nicholas), Christina Aleman (Anthony), Giovanna Hayes (Brian), Mia, Anthony, Marie Elena Pafumi and Giannina Libitz; and his great grandchildren, Emma Rose, Lucas, Nicholas, Stella and Anthony James. His beloved wife, Giovannina, passed away in 2015.
Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., on Thursday November 21, 2019 from 3 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be at Holy Trinity RC Church, Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Friday, November 22nd at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westfield Rescue Squad.
