Obituary

Edward Rizkalla Jr.69, passed away on Tuesday, December 24th, 2019 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Plainfield and raised in Clark, Eddie was a resident of Westfield for the past 27 years.
Eddie was a graduate of Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School in Clark. He received a Business Administration degree from Union College in Cranford and completed the Culinary Program at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City. Eddie loved food and cooking and out of this love he became a chef. He spent the last 25 years in the food service industry working for a variety of corporate companies including Merck and Schering-Plough. After retiring in 2010 he started working in the seafood department at Shop Rite in Clark to occupy his time.
Eddie was full of life and always the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with the family, especially all his nieces and nephews. He and Gail loved going to new restaurants with their friends on the weekends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, golfing, and fishing. He was a huge environmentalist and wanted to protect the earth for future generations. Because he was larger than life he will be greatly missed by everyone.

We Johnny and I will always love Eddie as our family. He stayed with us many times over the years when he came to NY to visit. We will treasure our times with him. He made us laugh and told us many stories. I Will always remember when it was time to leave and head home to NJ he would always say "LOVE YOU GUYS" and would get really emotional and ready to cry. We will miss you my friend but never forget you. May you fly with the angels until we all meet again. Love Johnny &Gail

One of my favorite memories of Eddy was a party given by AnnMarie Stecher for her daughter Emily's First birthday. We had the brave idea that between her, myself and Eddy that we could cook for 150 people at her house. We had so much fun that day that it didn't feel like work at all. I wish I could find the pictures to share with everyone and what a day it was. He brought love and life to any party or occasion just with a smile on his face. No matter what he was feeling, his smile and Hearty laugh was infectious which made everybody laugh with him. I will miss him so much. We were close in our own special way. I will love you forever and always. You are now officially my guardian angel. Love you so much!😔💔🙏🇺🇸

Eddie, my heart broke tonight when I received the message of your passing. We have been friends since high school and you were always smiling and so upbeat. When we reconnected in ShopRite and I always looked forward to chatting with you every time I was there. When you told me of your breathing problems I always hoped you wouldn’t suffer. I know how difficult it was for you on some days but you kept smiling. Even though we differed on our political opinions we never let that get in the way of our friendship. When I moved to Florida you wished me the best and I prayed you would be okay. I know how painful it was when you lost your dog, and I pray for your beautiful wife at this time of such sadness. Rest In Peace my dear friend, till we meet again. God Bless....xoxo Barb Garo Emmanouilidis
